Every woman is successful in her own way…a perspective…

Every woman is successful in her own way. Be it a housewife, a working woman, a mother, or a wife (the list is endless). She has the power to turn every weakness into strength and succeed every time.

We all know of a lot of women leaders and entrepreneurs who have made it big by relentlessly working towards their goals. They exhibited full confidence in their own abilities to turnaround things.

A lot of successful women have countless stories of being underestimated but they have always found ways to convert them into their strength.

By way of this article, I want to bring to light the stories of some of the less famous but successful women– a housewife, a working mother, a single mother, a Gen Y married woman, all of whom lead from the front in their lives and have made an impact on the lives of others in one way or the other. I have chosen to not look any far but bring you the stories from my own family!

The first woman who needs a mention is a housewifemy mother. A housewife and a mother of 3, who got married at the age of 18, my mother has been an epitome of success in every phase of her life. Always choosing her family, her husband, and kids over herself, she ensured a perfect balance for each member in the house. Her success story lies in making each one of us successful by sacrificing her own plans to work/study further at a tender age of 19 years. Right from educating her 3 kids (none of us went for any tuitions or coaching) to helping them stand on their own feet, she has been successful. Many would define this as being unambitious or non-career oriented but for me this is a perfect example of having a clear vision about her life and the way ahead. Being in my early 30s, I am still struggling to find a vision for myself and a balance in my life, but she did the same at an age when some of us would not even have started thinking about which graduation course to take. The one key takeaway or mantra of life that I have imbibed from her success story is to believe in yourself and have limitless faith in your own abilities to make things happen. Be a fighter and never settle for anything but the best. I also want to mention a recent article that was published by TOI that further compares the value of a homemaker to that of her earning spouse. It reflects changing attitudes and mindsets and of our international law obligations. And, most importantly, it is a step towards the constitutional vision of social equality and ensuring dignity of life to all individuals. This embarks upon the journey of many new but unnoticed success stories in future.

Next is the success story of a single mothermy sister. A doting mother of a loving son, she has left no stone unturned to establish herself as a successful entrepreneur in the Fashion industry. A proud owner of Pastelshades (www.pastelshades.in ), an impeccable artist, a wonderful human being, her success story lies in breaking all stereotypes and emerging as a strong woman who is determined to live for herself and stand on her feet. One key takeaway from her life has been to live for yourself, respect yourself and take a stand for yourself. Sharing a short story about her life in her own words:

A single mother no doubt is an epitome of resilience, is super confident and courageous. A big shout out to all those “Wonder moms” out there.

The next woman who holds a special place today and is the biggest question posed to the dogmatic male chauvinist society is a working mother, exemplified by my mother-in-law. A patient and a hard worker, both personally and professionally, she has always strived for perfection in every domain of her life. She exemplifies how a working mother struggles and sacrifices her own comfort to ensure nothing but the best for her family and children and emerges victorious. Meticulously planning all the phases of her life, her success story lies in earning the position of a respectable woman in society. The one learning from her life has been that perseverance and dedication can lead to humungous success in one’s life both personally and professionally.

Last but not the least is an example of a Gen Y married womanmy sister-in-law. Career oriented, independent, fear less, carefree, and fun loving, her success story lies in living in the moment and trying to make the most of her time at hand. It is real encouragement to see her taking decisions for herself, altering them if they do not work out and going with the flow. She motivates you to enjoy life while keeping in mind the critical goals of life as well.

The never-ending list of learning lessons from each one’s life have made me a successful woman today. It is with gratitude and respect that I salute all women for being what they are and for being the key drivers of our society. Women have and will continue to be the superpowers behind infinite success stories that glorify and pave way for future generation.
